UPDATE 19/7/19 - It appears the Parmi is no longer offered at Bar 951. Sad times! Watch this space to see if it returns!
Review: Freshly opened in Cannon Hill, Bar 951 is the brainchild of the nearby Cannon Hill Brewing shop. Capitalising on the appetite for local craft brews, this newly opened craft beer bar is sure to be the new watering hole for the locals of Cannon Hill and the surrounding suburbs.
Lucky enough to be located within a stones throw distance of the new pub, one of ParmiHunters ventured down after work one night to discover a Parmi on the menu. Is this real life? A fresh Parmi and craft beers within walking distance from home? Pinch me now.
First impressions are definitely a decent Parmi with a generous serving of shoestring fries. The Parmi has a beautiful fresh Napoli sauce, borrowing from the fresh woodfired pizzas also served on site. Not over thick but with plenty of crunch, the chicken was well crumbed and cooked perfectly, only drying out slightly on the edges. Thankfully plenty of aforementioned sauce and cheese to help mitigate any problems and perfect a perfect little Parmi. Special mention to a nice fresh little side salad and dressing accompaniment, topped off an already great Parmi.
I may be slightly biased because this is located so close to home, but I was pleasantly surprised about what this new venue could produce. At a price point of approximately $15 (memory was hazy after a few brews) it was certainly decent value.
Rating - 9.0/10 - I’m proud to call this venue my local, see you again…soon.
